SIGNIFICANCE OF COLORS

Did you know that every day you are affected by colors. From wherever you go, shop, react and act. With colors you can talk about how and who you are. You can use colors to change surfaces and even make people move from a surface. Surely it's cool?
I thought I would give you the Nordic meanings for our most common colors. And I say Nordic, as the meaning of colors differs around the world due to religion etc.

DARK BLUE

An authoritarian color but also confident, powerful, sensitive. Often used when it comes to security, eg the moderates, facebook, Wordpress, etc.
Negative is sad and nostalgic.

GREEN

The green color stands for calm, clean, prosperous, harmony, refreshing and natural.
Often used on logos of start-ups, as well as as a color in hospitals and healthcare.
Negative is poisoning, sick and uneducated.

RED

Passion, excitement and impulsive. Colors also stand for aggressiveness, eroticism, dominance and energetic. Often used by eg car brands who want to be experienced as fast, exciting and passionate.
The downside is anger, danger, impatience and violence.

YELLOW

Active, impulsive, curiosity and the color the eye reacts most strongly to. Also means philosophical, stimulating, playful, spontaneity, and inspiring. Used in eg warning signs, ambulances etc.

Negative is danger, dishonesty and warning.

ORANGE

Colors give balance, warmth and the feeling of vitality and hope. It also means competence, creativity, motivation and activity. Widely used among training companies and among creators.

Negative is risky, outrageous and exaggerated

PURPLE

This color stands for wealth, mystery, loyalty and royalty. Also used to show pride, feminism, sensuality and mystery.
Used, among other things, to show femininity (chastity such as Telia and others) and in magic and wizards.
Negative is Arrogance, grief and suffering.

BROWN

Means first and foremost stability, balance and security. Also shows a proximity to the earth. Also means fertility, masculine, calming, moral and simplicity.
Often used when companies want to show that they are "natural". eg in packaging etc.
The downside is that it can be boring. gloom and passivity.

WHITE

Peace, innocence and liberation. Also means purity, clarity, spirituality, fresh and harmonious. Used in hospitals, for example, to show sterility and cleanliness.
The downside is that it can be perceived as clinical, cold and sterile.

BLACK

A sexual, sophisticated and authoritarian color. Also stands for noble, power, magic, security, seriousness and depth. Often used by companies that want to show through their logo what they stand for, e.g. Gucci, Zara, Chanel and others
Negatives are dead, depressed, sad and wishful thinking.
